Michael Tagliarini a.k.a. "Mojo"
Mojo was born and raised in Tampa, Florida and has been living in Fort Lauderdale for twenty years soaking up the sun along with the jazz, fusion, rock, latin, and caribbean genres of music. This all took place while touring around the world for ten of those years as an instrument technician for a famous international recording artist. This exposure to other cultures and music is evident in Mojo’s improvisational style.
On his previous release "Mojo Doty", drummer Chuck Doty joins Mojo. This exploratory journey takes us away on a colorful trip into the unknown.
Featured primarily with his fretless bass and with no formal training along with Doty’s explosive battery of drums (completely improvisational), Mojo adds layers of percussion, guitars, keyboards, vocals, and an assortment of other toys to create a unique sound.
What is it? Nobody knows, but "Mojo Doty" is a good guess. Mojo...is definitely a state of mind.
On his new release "Keep it Rollin’" Mojo is again joined by Chuck Doty on drums for 6 songs based on improvisational jam sessions. The remainder of the record includes Mojo on drums along with every other instrument. Mojo’s guest artist on this record as well as the last one is Michael Scaglione on saxophones and flute on two songs. This record is another trip into a different place in music.
Other projects include el bajo alto "Carne Antique" and Mojo's "Tribal Screams", the latter featuring Mojo, bass in hand, on another free form journey.
